Mavic was founded in Lyon in 1889, when Charles Idoux and Lucien Chanel set up the Manufacture d'Articles Vélocipédiques Idoux & Chanel. For more than 137 years it has shaped cycling through wheels, rims and rider gear, and hand manufacturing remains at the heart of the brand, now run by Mavic Group near Annecy.
