The International Centre for Sports Studies (CIES) is an independent foundation in Neuchâtel that combines sport research with postgraduate and executive education. FIFA, the University of Neuchâtel, and the city and state of Neuchâtel founded it in 1995; FIFA is one of several founding partners, not a substitute for the centre’s own identity. CIES organises the one-year FIFA Master in management, law and humanities of sport with De Montfort University, SDA Bocconi and the University of Neuchâtel, taught across Leicester, Milan and Neuchâtel. Its wider education menu also covers international sport management and football law, while its research includes the Football Observatory. Football is listed because of that specialist research and education, though the Master examines other sports too.
